Driver 3 PSX2
Driver 3 (PS2) First Details
We catch the first glimpse of Reflections' hard driving getaway merchant on PlayStation2.
The Driver games are certainly candidates for the best driving titles ever to grace the PSone and yesterday, during a London showcase event for their latest driving outing Stuntman, Reflections premiered a first look at Driver 3 on the PS2.
Legendary for their caginess when it comes to future releases, Reflections showed off a teaser movie for Driver 3 which though short on definitive details, did gave us a tantalising glimpse of some of the driving delights to come.
First up we saw footage from three confirmed locales from the game, which included the extensive beachfronts and wide avenues of sunny Miami, the narrow backstreets of Nice and the smog-filled maze of Istanbul. Each of these admittedly limited glimpses had marvellous amounts of detail in the scenery and environments, but moved with an impressive sense of speed and they promise big things for the look and feel of the final game.
Intercut with these scenes were momentary flashes of a giant yellow US muscle car, automatic weapons firing and all the shadowy underworld shenanigans which made the original games such a smash. Linking the whole thing together was a moody cinematic of the central character Tanner, walking toward the camera, presumably on the way to picking up yet another nefarious undercover assignment. No further details were forthcoming unfortunately and there was a total ban on any further questions surrounding this game, but even on this early look Driver 3, looks like it's going to be an awesome prospect. You'll have further news and details as soon as we've leaned on our underworld contacts.
