Gaming Horizon has posted an eight-page PlayStation 2 Online feature dedicated to the Playstation 2 Network Adaptor that released today: August 27, 2002. The adaptor contains both a 56k modem and a broadband modem as an add-on for $40. Now you will able to play online games such as NFL GameDay 2003, Sega Sports NFL 2K3, Madden NFL 2003, Twisted Metal: Black Online and SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALS. Here is an excerpt from the article:
The one thing that SCEA did point out was that gamers can use any internet connection to play on the PS2 Online service. Dial-Up and Broadband connection outlets are all built into the Network Adaptor. This will be the only next-gen console that will enable Dial-Up users to get in on the action, rather than being left out in many of the cases you see these days. The start-up disc will contain many "pre-loaded" dial-up online services if players out there do not have an internet service. Those services will include AOL, AT&T WorldNet Service, Earthlink, SBC/Prodigy, and Sympatico. Once again, if gamers have broadband, all they have to do is plug it in and will be ready to play online
