Läpi meni kymmenessä tunnissa. Varsin kinkkisiä puzzleja. Minun mielestä metroidvania genreen kuuluu että uusiin alueisiin pääsee kun saa lisäkykyjä. Tässä puzzlet saa ratkaista missä tahansa järjestyksessä. Ehkä open world puzzle on parempi nimitys tälle.

Onkos tuo noin seesteinen ja rauhallinen peli, kuin mitä traileri antoi ymmärtää? Näytti ensisilmäyksellä siltä, että mukavaa pelattavaa hetken aikaa, mutta pidemmän päälle turhan hidastempoista. Nyt toki huutelen hävyttömästi pelkästään trailerin perusteella, mutta ulkoasun puolesta näytti hyvinkin kiinnostavalta.

On seesteinen ja rauhallinen. Ei tule yhtään taistelua. Jos tykkää Braidista ja Limbosta niin varmaan pitää myös Toki Tori 2:sta.

So… what did we fix? Apart from some obvious bugs, there was one issue that has been raised quite frequently:

“Okay, I finished the room with that ‘thing’ ... now what? Where do I need to go? How do I get to that strange creature?!”

Even though we feel that we added enough hints for people to figure out what they need to do, we noticed that a number of people completely missed those hints and got stuck. Of course, they can always ask Miiverse for a solution, but giving you a solution on a silver platter obviously doesn’t feel as rewarding as it is to solve one by yourself. So more hints were added in this patch.

Apart from addressing that issue, we also improved the game and fixed a number of other issues. So without further ado: the full release notes:

  • Improved the flow of the game after reaching the room with the ‘thing’
  • Added another super-secret area
  • Fixed a bug where Toki Tori was invisible after returning to the game
  • Fades between levels now fade the audio too
  • Simplified the puzzle in the underwater passage
  • Fixed an issue when the TokiDex was completed in the photo room
  • Some back- and foreground elements got a fresh coat of paint
  • When all the collectibles in a level (or the entire game) are collected a melody will play to notify the player
  • Fixed a rare bug where the player completed the game, but the end scene wouldn’t trigger
  • Various level tweaks, based on Miiverse feedback

No self publishing on Xbox One probably means no Two Tribes games. This was really a chance for Microsoft to fix the broken XBLA setup. :(

Funny how mentioning Toki Tori 2 is closer to running on Playstation 4 goes by unnoticed if we use (wrongly used) technical jargon ;)

Toki Tori 2:een tuli iso päivitys ja peli on nyt nimeltään Toki Tori 2+.
Päivitys on linjoilla. Peli käyntiin niin päivitys latautuu.

Toki Torista on tulossa melkoinen tarjouskombo. Ensi torstaina siis julkaistaan Wii U -päivitys ensimmäisestä Toki Torista, ja hintaa on vaivaiset 1,99 euroa julkaisualennuksena (joulukuussa hinta nousee 4 euroon). Lisäksi samalla menee alennukseen Toki Tori 2:n laajennettu versio Toki Tori 2+, joka maksaa Toki Tori 1:n ostaneille vain 5,99 euroa. Jos ei ole ostanut ykkösosaa, Toki Tori 2+ maksaa alennettunakin 8,99 euroa. Jos siis TT2+ kiinnostaa, kannattaa ensin ostaa Toki Tori - kaksi peliä euron halvemmalla kuin yksi? Omituisia nämä tarjouskampanjat...

Ja toisaalta juuri nyt ei kannata ostaa Toki Tori 2:ta ennen kun TT1 ilmestyy ja alennus astuu voimaan torstaina.

When Toki Tori 2 ended up taking way longer than expected and not achieving the sales we needed, it basically took the company down with it.
Siellä on nyt jotkin yritysjärjestelyt menossa, mutta en tiedä saavatko Toki Tori 2:sta PS4 versiota aikaiseksi.

"No ports", eli ei varmaankaan myöskään PS4 versiota. Täytyy vaihtaa prefixi takaisin Wii U:ksi.

Toki Tori 2 kehittäjä puhuu miksi peli floppasi. Sanoo että laittoi kaikkensa peliin tehdäkseen hyvän pelin mutta peli ei erottunut edukseen. Sanoo, että jos olisi itse kuluttaja niin ei olisi varmaan ostanut peliä. eShop ja Steam tulot menivät tasan. Steamissa peliä myytiin kappalemääräisesti enemmän.

Two Tribes on jokin aika sitten puhunut taas jos toisi Toki Tori 2:n PS4:lle. Vaihdan prefixin takaisin multiksi, jos peli oikeasti ilmestyy PS4 Storeen ja ruudussa lukee että sen voi ostaa.
