New Sega Rally and Daytona USA on the horizon

Sega's driving giants return... with cross-platform online gaming on board
Hot racing news reaching us from Japan is that Sega have plans for both new Sega Rally and Daytona USA games - superb news for arcade driving nuts everywhere.
And we do, quite literally, mean everywhere as both games will offer online gaming.
Sega Rally 3 (still, at present, a working title) will initially be released for PlayStation 2, helping to fill out Sony's as-yet unimpressive online stable.
Following the PS2 launch, versions for Xbox and possibly Gamecube are planned - and, incredibly gamers will be able to race against each other online across different consoles.
Quite how this will work in practice remains to be seen but it's clearly a huge step forward in the evolution of online console gaming.
Sega Rally was one of the seminal arcade racers, pioneering slippy-slidey rally handling. Suffice to say, if it wasn't for this, there certainly wouldn't be a Colin McRae Rally series today.
Meanwhile, a new version of Daytona USA will be released for Xbox, where it will be Xbox Live compatible. Aside from single races, Daytona owners will also be able to take part in a race series covering both Daytona and Sega Rally via Xbox Live.
It all sounds pretty smart to us. No word yet, though, on when any of this online speeding is likely to kick off. We'll keep you posted as soon as we hear anything...
Tästähän voi tulla vielä hauskaa, jos vain joskus saadaan Pleikkarit verkkoon Suomessa ihan virallisestikin....
