New Sega Console In the Works?
Sunday, May 18 2003 | By Dave
In a recently conducted interview with Yuji Naka, head of Sega's Sonic Team, gamesnews has uncovered some startling information regarding a possible new Sega console.
Upon being asked if he missed making games on a Sega format, he said, "yes, I miss that very much. Back then Sega was a little more idolised. When Sega is ready to do with it's own proprietary hardware platform, I will really, definitely want to work on it."
Then, after being asked if he thought that may happen, he replied, "In order to realise that, I am working really hard."
Naka was also stopped by a Sega of Japan representative before answering a question regarding the merger of Sega with another development company.
This is startling news, and is surely more than rumours. Yuji Naka is one of the most famous game developers in the world and holds one of the highest positions in Sega. However, the company, after announcing the ending of Dreamcast production, did say that it would not rule out a console in the future.
We'll have more on this as it develops.
