GameCube exclusivity in doubt for Capcom's premier zombie title?
14:03 With the last few vestiges of the silly season reluctantly disappearing, all manner of unlikely rumours are doing the rounds. One of the more plausible sounding stories to appear refers to Capcom's hotly anticipated Resident Evil 4; apparently there's a suggestion that the 'Com has decided to abandon its GameCube exclusive stance for the title.
Details are scarce, but there's speculation that the Resi 4 will initially appear on GameCube later this year with a PS2 and possibly an Xbox version to follow. While such a development would make sense, considering the poor sales achieved by other Resi games exclusive to GameCube, a spokesperson for Capcom told us that he was unaware of plans to release the title on any other platform but the GameCube, though he did add: "obviously that could change". No shit.

12:43 Online retailer Amazon.co.uk is now listing the highly anticipated next instalment of the massive Grand Theft Auto series on its website. Of course, as we've seen in the past, such listings cannot always be trusted, but if true then speculation about the game's title has been spot on - welcome to Grand Theft Auto IV: Sin City.
San Andreas was a name that was being knocked around for some time for the next GTA title simply because it's a remaining location appearing in the original top-down GTA series that has yet to be covered by the latest games. However, it appears that an entirely new moniker has scored the vote.
Amazon.co.uk has zero info on Sin City at the moment, other than that it's suggesting an expected release date of November 5, 2004 on PS2 (nope, no mention of PC or Xbox versions).
However, Microsoft insiders have revealed to us that the company is currently locked in negotiations with Rockstar in order to get an Xbox version out before the end of 2004, although it's believed an existing deal with Sony precludes the possibility of a simultaneous release. Watch this space.
We contacted publisher Rockstar Games earlier today to confirm details, but all we received was "no comment". As ever, we'll keep you posted on developments.

12:42 Ubisoft today reconfirmed its plans to release the critically acclaimed Prince of Persia and Beyond Good and Evil on GameCube and Xbox later this year, directly contradicting earlier web reports that the titles had been cancelled on those consoles.
A spokesperson for Ubisoft commented: "I don't know where these stories come from. We always planned to release both titles on GameCube and Xbox in 2004 and that hasn't changed."
The news appears to have stemmed from the fact that Ubisoft removed webpages relating to the games, though to extrapolate from this that the titles have been scrapped would seem a little hasty. Ubisoft is set to announce official release dates for both games imminently.
