A: RedshirtEA: There will be both fatigue and injuries in EASHL. The injuries are all playable and have a fairly short effect -- less than half a period.
How will you regain your endurance in EASHL if fatigue is in effect?
A: RedshirtEA: The fatigue effect in EASHL is different than the regular game because you are still on the ice the whole time. You recover energy much quicker -- but I'll say more about this later when we talk about one of the other changes...
Q: Is pass-speed online now determined by how far you push the R-Trigger (so passes happen on "release" instead of "press")?
A: NateHL: passing is now based on how far you hold the trigger and release, instead of the press.

A: RedshirtEA: No, it is Sept 7

A: NateHL: anyone can skip through it this year. we heard the communities feedback on that one and made sure to put that into action this year.
Q: will the new faceoff system follow a "rock-paper-scissors" type formula, where certain moves have advantages on others?
A: NateHL: it is not exactly a rock paper scissors type scenario, but there are certain advantages and disadvantages to the different faceoff moves. of course, timing still plays a factor.
Q: will u have kick in goals called no goal?
A: RedshirtEA: Yes, one of the situations where goal reviews and disallowed goals will happen is with kicked pucks.
Q: Does your moves you pull of the face-off depend on the face-off attribute?
A: NateHL: no, everyone has access to the same moves, but your skill, ability and timing to pull them off depend on your faceoff attribute.
Q: Has the infront of the net play been fixed or are all of our offensive players going to be checked to the ice without interference being called?
A: RedshirtEA: Yes, the interference rules have been changed and they are more realistic.
Q: Are wrap arounds fixed?
RedshirtEA: It'll be harder to score with a wraparound.
Q: can you break yourstick off the face off
A: NateHL: not this year, but that is a good suggestion and something we'll look into.
Q: Will there be any faceoff setups where when you see the formation you know you won't be winning it? Or the faceoffs in the offensive zone where if you win it, it goes out of the zone?
A: EASPORTSNHL: There are different face-off formations you can select before face-offs
Q: how does the real-time physics engine play into the face-off system?
A: NateHL: the puck is loose from the moment it leaves the ref's hands. gone are the days where the puck would warp to the side of the player who won the faceoff. the puck will also bounce up off the ice.
Q: can we have the ability to make different players for live play so if the other teams has 3 forwarsd i can swap my dman setting to a forwards setup by having another player created
A: RedshirtEA: Not in NHL11, but we did make it easier to change your player type and re-assign his attributes in the Edit Attributes screen.

A: RedshirtEA: Yes, the size and strength of players matter much more in the hitting now.
Q: What are the controls for high and low hits?
A: RedshirtEA: R3 is the modifier for a hip check.
Q: will hip checks be auto huge hits like '10? or can you bounce off of a hip check?
A: NateHL: depending on the position of the person doing the hip check, and where they are in relation to the player they are trying to check, they may or may not produce a big hip check. it is possible to bounce off a person who is intending to hip check.

A: NateHL: had this awesome hit once, where Salo went to glove the puck down, i took a run at him and laid him flat on his back. Injured, concussion. absolutely satisfying to sit in the box for 2 minutes. so to answer your question, yes, you can steam roll guys who are trying to glove the puck.
Q: When you mentioned you can kick the puck, does that mean you will have to press a button or is it an automatic thing?
A: NateHL: you can direct where you want the puck to be kicked when you don't have a stick. there will be no "kick puck" button.

A: RedshirtEA: This has been fixed, it won't poke if your teammate has the puck.
Q: do checks knock sticks off players hands?
A: NateHL: it is possible yes.
Q: If you get hit and lose your stick can you pick it back up or no?
A: NateHL: yep! if you are slashed and drop a stick, hit and drop a stick, and the stick is still in one piece, you can skate over to it and pick it up and resume play.

A: RedshirtEA: Yes, it is a pretty rare circumstance, but having the wrong curve does affect passing and shooting.

A: EASPORTSNHL: sometimes on big hits depending on the position the player is on the ice, yes, it may take longer.
Q: I'd really like to know what defense in front of the net will be like since hitting in that 'safe area' will be taken away... is that still top secret?
A: RedshirtEA: It is a lot easier to take away the pass with positional play.
New Gameplay Feature:
EASPORTSNHL: Ok, the new Gameplay Feature is a feature we are calling the Hustle Button. I will let Redshirt explain how it works
RedshirtEA: Ok... first what it is NOT....
It is NOT sprint or speed burst like NHL06 (and earlier). It is on L3, and it gives you an increase to acceleration and a small increase in speed. The point of it is to create a range in speed so that players aren't always going 100% speed. It lowers your fatigue more quickly than normal skating and you can't turn as sharply.
Q: can i still push the puck ahead like in 10?
A: EASPORTSNHL: Yes, you can
Q: Can we use it for offense or just skating back? Can we "switch gears" as they say???
A: NateHL: this is exactly what the intention of the hustle button is. it is for players to "Switch gears" as the commentators call it. you can use it for both offense and defense.
RedshirtEA: So you won't be using this to weave around with the puck, it is more for straight ahead speed in transition on on races for the puck.
EASPORTSNHL: Or getting around a defender, which is when I like to use it
RedshirtEA: It is also something defenders now have to counter the speed/acceleration boost given by the push puck.
Q: So its a turbo button
A: EASPORTSNHL: it's not a turbo button...you're not going to want to use it in any situation unless you are going straight
Q: do you tap it or hold it down?
A: RedshirtEA: Three in a row gets you to the max speed and it'll drop off slowly from there. You can maintain the top speed by clicking at a moderate rate. When you are getting a boost you will fatigue faster and turn less quickly. Hustle will work in EASHL too because there is fatigue there. This is tied to the endurance attribute so that will end up being pretty important.
