We have increased the rendering details and dynamic resolution cap of Titanfall 2 on X1X. This means the game will always output a 4K signal, but dynamically alter the resolution based on GPU load to ensure smooth framerates. Additionally, we have brought over from the PC version of Titanfall 2 Dynamic Superscaling for times when even full 2160p doesn’t push the X1X GPU to 100% utilization.
Titanfall 2 on X1X is a substantially clearer/sharper image presentation. Players will notice lots of little details in the world and it maintains the fluid 60 fps framerate needed for smooth gameplay more often so you won’t see any frame rate drops even with a bunch of 20 foot Titans battling it out at once.
How has the process been to get the game up and running on Xbox One X?
Extremely easy! Being a part of the Xbox One family means it was a matter of hours/days to get a build up and running, as opposed to months/years for an entirely new platform.
What enhancement are you most excited about leveraging for Titanfall 2 on Xbox One X?
We’re pretty excited to be taking advantage of Dynamic Superscaling, which ensures 100% GPU utilization at all times. It is a pretty ingenious feature to allow a game that is so dynamic like Titanfall 2 to always look its best. Players can be sure that no matter what they are doing in the game, the Xbox One X is running on all cylinders to make Titanfall 2 run and look amazing.
With the additional power of the Xbox One X, we are able to deliver The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in 4K, while providing numerous visual tweaks such as higher-quality shadows, ambient occlusion & texture filtering, as well as higher resolution textures, and an all-around performance boost.
Thanks to 4K, we can show everything our artists created with more detail. And it’s not just owners of a 4K TV who will benefit from the higher resolution. Thanks to supersampling, the leap in quality will be visible even on a 1080p screen.
For Halo Wars 2, we’re taking the increased power of the Xbox One X to punch up the resolution to 4K, and will also support HDR.
Also, even if you don’t have a 4K TV, thanks to Xbox One X the game will still run better, load faster and benefit from supersampled antialiasing when running at 1080p.
The inclusion of extra memory allows us to continue to test the game in the development environment without having to fully optimize the game to get it running. Thanks to this feature, we were able to get the game up and running on the Xbox One X the same day we received our development kits.
The ability to simulate the Xbox One and Xbox One S development environments through the Xbox One X development kit reduces the overhead of having to own all the Xbox development kits, and decreases the time it takes to test on all devices.

We can confirm that this super-sampling is present and the best place to see it is during the opening tutorial mission. This is a relatively simple area and via pixel counting, we noted a maximum 4224x2376 resolution, essentially an extra 20 per cent of resolution over the ultra HD standard. Lines are crisper and clearer than the PS4 Pro version here, but there are issues with anisotropic filtering - ground texture detail in the mid-distance becomes fuzzier, with more detail resolved on the PlayStation 4 Pro and PC versions of the game.
But it's the dynamic rendering situation that dominates our results. The Pro version drops as low at 1080p in our campaign test runs, but the lowest recorded result we came up with is in the region of 842p to 864p on Xbox One X in the same area.

We even managed to find an area in the opening campaign mission where both PS4 Pro and Xbox One X drop frames - a clear outlier in an otherwise pristine 60fps experience - yet here, the Microsoft console is dropping more frames than Pro and it is running at a lower resolution.

What specifically is your development team doing to enhance Halo 5: Guardians for Xbox One X?
The Xbox One X provides a ton of additional power that we’ve used to lift the Halo 5: Guardians resolution to 4K Ultra HD while maintaining the smooth 60fps gameplay experience. Additionally, the team was able to go in and change some level of detail settings so we can render more detail further away from the player.
