So was the trailer they showed at E3 realtime or CGI?NormsMeGhee (Factor 5) sanoi:Well of course there's a NDA ahout Lair. When Sony decides to show off the game and the gameplay, then I'll be able to talk a lot more about the gameplay aspects of the game, but until then I can't really say anything beyond what you've seen in the trailer. I don't think I'd be stepping over my bounds by saying we're targeting "launch and/or launch window". As for RPG, action, adventure elements, I can't talk about them.
GDC-screenshot: http://ps3media.ign.com/ps3/image/article/698/698558/lair-screen-20060327004958573.jpgI was waiting for that to come up. In fact I'm surprised it took this long. The company and Sony anticipated this and we've been told to not answer the question. I can give you some idea of the current graphics though. Remeber the screenshot that surfaced from the GDC presentation? That was entirely real-time, in the engine, as in someone was actually playing the level(in fact I've played that level). Also in terms of the levels, Obivion has nothing on Lair in terms of size.
Well obviously my opinion is not the company's opinion. There was more than just one reason for choosing the PS3 console. There's always things you have to take into account when you decide the platform besides the hardware such as publishers, funding, contracts, those kinds of things. That being said, the most obvious reason is power and the abilities of the hardware. I don't think you have to be a rocket scientist to figure out which console is the most powerful of the 3.
And I should be a little clearer about the comment on Oblivion because I don't want this to turn into thread comparing such or give people the wrong impression. With Oblivious, you have thick forest that really prevent you from seeing that far ahead of you, that way the developers can stream in new geometry and textures as you pass through the levels. Oblivon may have a larger overall size in terms of miles, but you can only see a small amount of it in front of your screen. It's not this way in Lair.
This is my words, not the teams, but yes I would say that the draw distance in lair is much larger than Oblivion.
We're using many different next-gen modeling and shading techiques, none of which I can go into detail about. The reason for the dragons being so shiny in the rain sequence was......because it was raining. The dragons won't look nearly as shiny in regular form.
First off, it's pretty safe to say that there will be no port of Lair of any kind to the Xbox 360. Besides the fact that the engine was built around the PS3 hardware, I seriously doubt Sony would let the game it's funding and publishing be released on it's rival platform.
Aika jemmassa ovat tosiaan pitäneet, varsinkin jo julkaisuikkuna on tosiaankin tähtäimessä...As for the state of Lair around the time of TGS, well I'll just say Lair will be there, definitely. Obviously I can't give confirmation to anything, but I would predict that it will be very far along by then.
