METAL GEAR SOLID 2 DELAYED IN EUROPE, EXTRAS DETAILED
Awesome bonus additions and generally high demand shunts Snakes latest adventure back two weeks, says Konami
15:04 Konami officially delayed the release of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty today, citing the addition of a "Making of" DVD and unprecedented demand for the title as reasons for the slip. March 8 is the new release date for the covert adventures of Solid Snake on PlayStation 2, a two-week stumble from the previous date of February 22. More than 1 million launch units are currently required to satiate Europe's appetite for all things Snake.
"This is our biggest ever day one order," said a Konami spokesperson today. While the extra DVD is a serious bonus for Europe, the manufacturing of such enormous numbers of the two-disc set has forced the small delay. "We want to give the European consumer the extras for having to wait for the release of the game after Japan and America. We would have released it on the correct date, with all the additions intact, but demand has been nothing short of sensational."
It doesn't matter. European gamers will have to wait a little longer, but the extra disc isn't the only exclusive goodie for the PAL version: Hideo Kojima's masterpiece actually ships with three new modes over already released Japanese and American versions. You read that right. The European game will include an Extreme Difficulty Mode that does exactly what it says on the tin, and a Casting Theatre. The latter will allow you to physically alter character models, one of which is the Ninja from the game: the European version is the only to allow gamers to play as the cyber-warrior.
Better yet is the inclusion of a Boss Survival Mode, giving you the opportunity to take on the likes of Olga, ******and ****** in a series of scraps.
Konami loves you, so don't worry about the delay. You're getting a ton more than any other territory for the sake of having to sweat for an extra three months. The game's completely mint, packs a plot twistier than an extremely twisty thing and is guaranteed to take pride of place in you "My Favourite Games" list for many moons to come.
Expect Europe's PlayStation 2 collective to grind to a slack-jawed standstill this March.
